SUMMER PROGRAMMES

All of the MLS programmes are available throughout the summer. We also offer specialized options in the summer time only.

Summer Option courses are available at MLS. Choose which subject you would like as your main area of study – English Language or Business Studies – 20 lessons per week. If you want a more intensive programme choose an additional option. You can take the main course only without option at a reduced fee – see fees sheet.

Study Skills & British Council IELTS Practice

Speaking

The aim of these lessons is to increase confidence and fluency through guided discussion work, role-play, simulation and case studies.

Reading

Overviewing a text by skimming and scanning, interpreting visual information (diagrams, tables, graphs and charts) and evaluating the information.

Writing

Describing statistics, preparing reports, writing up an argument or opinion, describing how something works, describing a process, letter-writing and essay writing.

Listening

Using a wide variety of authentic material to improve listening for specific information. Form-filling and information seeking are part of the listening practice. Students are trained to gather information from just one listening from a cassette recording and intensive listening is introduced where necessary.

GROUP SUMMER PACKAGES

MLS offers specially tailored summer course packages for groups with the tuition content and social programme structured to the requirements of the group. A typical package contains the following elements:

20 lessons per week

• Home-stay accommodation with half board Monday to Friday and full board at the weekend (twin or single room)

• Packed lunch at the College Monday to Friday

• Airport transfer return for the group

• One full day excursion per week (e.g. London, Oxford, Bath, Stratford-upon-Avon, Salisbury and Stonehenge

• One half day excursion per week (e.g. Winchester, Dorset Countryside, Salisbury, New Forest)

• One bowling evening per week

• One disco evening per week

Use of all College facilities:

• Internet, Language Laboratory, Library

• All books and teaching materials

• MLS ringbinder

• End of course Certificate of Studies

• End of course progress report

• Map of Bournemouth and welcome pack

Courses can be for a minimum of one week and the above typical programme can be changed to suit the group’s requirements. Package prices are available on request.
